6 Days Machame Route Itinerary
Day 1: Moshi to Machame Gate – Trek to Machame Camp
Your journey begins with a drive from Moshi to the park gate. After registration, start trekking through dense rainforest filled with tall trees, birds, and monkeys. The trail gradually ascends to your first camp.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Leave the forest behind and enter open moorland. The trail becomes steeper, offering wide views of the mountain and surrounding landscape. You’ll camp on the Shira Plateau with clear views when weather permits.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower – Descend to Barranco Camp

This is an important acclimatization day. You hike up to a higher altitude near Lava Tower, then descend to Barranco Camp. This helps your body adjust and prepares you for summit day.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Start by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a fun and non-technical scramble. Continue across ridges and valleys to reach Barafu Camp, where you rest and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.
